There are over 2.5 million fitness apps on both the Apple Store and the Google Play Store, making it challenging to find the one that suits your fitness goals. We've picked out our 5 favourite fitness-based apps that can be accessed on your phone and smartwatch!
- Nike Training Club
Nike Training Club includes more than 185 workouts that are categorised to suit your goals. You can also create personalised goals to work towards, being able to filter what equipment you can use, and how many times a week you want to work out. The app will even make suggestions according to your workout history, showing videos on how to perform different exercises giving you all the guidance you need.
- Strava
Strava can be used for different exercises like cycling, swimming and running activities. The app allows you to track and analyse your performance over a period of time to vision your progress. For example, features allow you to track your distance, speed, altitude and calories burned.
A great feature that Strava has to offer, is the access to the community of people within Strava, allowing you to share your progress and follow other users. Finally, it contains several predefined running and cycling routes, as well as monthly challenges/ competitions that will for sure keep you motivated.
- MyFitnessPal
My Fitness Pal is a calorie counter where you can register everything you have to eat. With this app you will have access to the biggest database of any calorie counting app (more than 6 million foods available). Foods can even be scanned by barcode to make it easier to find the product you are eating. And if that isn’t enough, you can even add your own ingredients to your meals if you can’t find the exact meal you are eating.
- Strong
This app allows you to track your workouts in the easiest way possible. Like a few of the other apps, Strong comes with exercises and plans already registered, although you can still add your own. You can also create routines and track the progress you make over time with this app. The app also has a feature where you can record your weight and body measurements.
- Jefit
Just like Strong, the Jefit app allows you to track your workouts. The app also comes with exercises and routines already there for you, as well as allowing you to create your own. Like Strava, the app has a community where you can share your progress, share plans and routines you have made, this feature is something that Strong does not have.
Our five favourite apps can be used on a smartwatch too! Take a look at the watches that can support your fitness goals. Strava can be used to record your activities on Apple Watches from the series 2 model and above. Nike Training Club is also compatible with the Apple Watch, allowing you to skip or pause workouts whilst you are doing them. Don't forget you can always monitor your heart rate whilst working out with your watch.
